How To Setup Your Sirocco
Designed With Nature In Mind
The Sirocco was our first product at Olairo, and the one that taught us how we wanted to make things. Before the first prototype was ever built, we asked ourselves what we wanted — and just as importantly, what we didn't. We wanted an umbrella worthy of the beach, beautiful enough to belong there, without the hassles, the pinched fingers, the bag you have to fight with (Steve's biggest pet peeve).
We focused on the quality of every component, designing for form and function in equal measure. The base was the hardest part. Finding the right dimensions for the kind of steadiness we wanted took time. To engineer the anchor joint, we solicited help from Steve's daughter, Maddie. She's the reason the Sirocco holds together the way it does.
A year of trial and error went into it: sketches, prototypes, frustrations, and a graveyard of sample umbrellas that didn't make the cut. The one that did is the one you're looking at. The Sirocco. The umbrella that started it all. We hope you'll enjoy her as much as we do.
